چکیده
suicide and suicidal thoughts and behaviors is a global phenomenon and has existed throughout history. community reactions to suicide varied through history and historical periods as well. people had different attitudes towards it. suicide can be known as a threat to public health of the society. the painful truth behind suicide is the deep impact of it on the family, community and the society. world health organization (who) estimates that approximately one million people worldwide die annually due to suicide and rate of attempt to suicide is 10-20 times more than this. so, on average, someone in the world attempts to commit suicide every 3 seconds and one person passes away every 40 seconds due to suicide. in the past 30 years, suicide rate has increased 300% globally and presently is the third cause of death among people aged 15-24 and the 8th cause of death in general.
